Syrian authorities arrest ex-intelligence officer over massacre

Syrian authorities have arrested a former intelligence officer allegedly linked to a video showing the fatal shooting of dozens during the country's conflict.

The Interior Ministry said Friday that Amjad Yousef was arrested in Hama, where he had been hiding.

Since insurgents ousted former President Bashar Assad in December 2024, dozens of security agency members blamed for atrocities have been arrested.

The civil war, which began in 2011, has left half a million people dead.

The Interior Ministry stated Friday that authorities will pursue all those involved in the Tadamon massacre to bring them to justice.
