US military sais it carried 'self-defense' strikes in first since ceasefire
US Central Command said it "conducted self-defence strikes in southern Iran" on May 25.
This comes more than a month after a ceasefire between the countries took hold and amid ongoing peace negotiations in Qatar.
Still, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio maintained a deal can be reached within days.
While the US is looking to get the Strait of Hormuz reopened, Iran says Tehran's sovereignty of the Strait would be an essential component to a deal.
