Peru heads to polarised runoff between Keiko Fujimori and Roberto Sanchez

Peru's top two presidential candidates have been confirmed for a 7 June runoff after a month-long delay reviewing contested ballots from the first round.

Right-wing Keiko Fujimori, daughter of imprisoned former president Alberto Fujimori, will face leftist Roberto Sanchez, seen as the political heir to jailed ex-leader Pedro Castillo.
Together they secured only 29 per cent of first-round votes, and both face corruption investigations.

Polls show 48 per cent of Peruvians say they will never vote for Fujimori, whilst influential elites and media oppose Sanchez's reform platform.

Al Jazeera's Mariana Sanchez reports from Lima, Peru.
