Celebrations erupted in India’s capital on Saturday after news that the country’s education minister had resigned.
Hours after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced his resignation, leaders of the so-called “cockroach” movement called off a weeks-long student strike over alleged exam paper leaks and irregularities in the education system.
It comes after weeks of nationwide demonstrations, sit-ins and hunger strikes in a significant challenge to President Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Organizers called for an end to the protests on Saturday, saying that all of their demands had been met.
