Venezuela rejects Trump’s “51st state” remarks at ICJ

Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodríguez rejected Trump’s remarks about making Venezuela the 51st US state, saying her country would defend its sovereignty.

She spoke at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, to argue for Venezuela in its decades-long dispute with Guyana over the oil- and mineral-rich Essequibo region.
