The alleged White House Correspondents' dinner shooter Cole Tomas Allen appeared in court for the first time as he faces new major federal charges - including the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
The Justice Department accused Allen, 31, of attempting to attack the dinner - and target Trump and administration officials - by running through a Secret Service checkpoint with a shotgun, handgun, and knives.
The suspect allegedly exchanged gunfire with Secret Service agents at a checkpoint outside a ballroom hosting President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
