UK joins EU Ukraine loan

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has signaled a major shift in UK-EU relations by announcing plans to join the European Union's €90 billion recovery loan for Ukraine.

Speaking at the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, Starmer argued that the benefits of closer cooperation on defense and capability outweigh the costs.

The move is seen as a key part of his broader 'reset' strategy to align more closely with Brussels while supporting Kyiv's long-term defense.

Starmer also used the summit to address 'tensions' within Western alliances caused by the ongoing war in Iran.
