Xbox Cuts 3,200 Jobs, Spins Off Studios

Microsoft’s Xbox division announced 3,200 job cuts and the divestiture of four game development studios as part of a major restructuring.

The moves come amid a subscriber dip and a refocus on core franchises like those from Bethesda.

Studios such as Obsidian Entertainment, Compulsion Games and Double Fine were spun off or saw significant layoffs.

The cuts are part of a broader Microsoft reduction of 4,800 jobs worldwide.
