BBC to Cut 2,000 Jobs

BBC to Cut 2,000 Jobs

Staff at the BBC were informed of the redundancies during an all-staff call on Wednesday afternoon, marking the broadcaster's largest scaling back in 15 years.

The cuts are driven by a need to reduce costs by 10 percent over the next three years as the corporation faces intense financial pressure and shifting audience habits.

Interim director-general Rhodri Talfan Davies stated the move is necessary to ensure the broadcaster's long-term sustainability.

The announcement has sparked concerns among unions and staff, with recent surveys showing only one in three employees have confidence in senior management.
