Mandelson Vetting Scandal Rocks No. 10

Mandelson Vetting Scandal Rocks No. 10

Downing Street has been plunged into crisis following an investigation revealing that Peter Mandelson was denied security clearance by UK Security Vetting officials.

Despite this recommendation, the Foreign Office used rarely-invoked powers to grant the high-level clearance required for the prestigious Washington post.

Mandelson was later fired from the role after his links to the disgraced sex offender Jeffrey Epstein became public.

Opposition parties have accused Sir Keir Starmer of misleading Parliament, while the Prime Minister has ordered an internal probe into the vetting failure.
