Australia Sues 3M Over Chemicals

Australia is seeking over 2 billion Australian dollars in damages from 3M for environmental contamination caused by PFAS-containing firefighting foam.

The lawsuit focuses on 28 defense sites across the country where the 'forever chemicals' have leached into the soil and groundwater.

Attorney General Michelle Rowland stated that the government aims to recover the massive costs associated with managing the long-term health and environmental risks. 3M has faced similar multi-billion dollar settlements in the United States over its production of the persistent chemicals.
