Shooting Near University of Iowa

Violence broke out at a pedestrian mall in downtown Iowa City, leaving one victim in critical condition and four others stable.

The shooting occurred around 1:46 a.m. after a massive brawl involving dozens of people spilled into the streets.

University officials confirmed that three of the injured are current students, prompting an immediate security alert for the campus community.

Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage and appealing for witnesses as they search for the gunman responsible for the carnage.
