Japan Issues Tsunami Warning

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a special advisory following a major seismic event centered in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has established an emergency task force to coordinate rescue efforts and has urged residents in low-lying areas to move to higher ground immediately.

While no major damage was reported in Tokyo, the tremor was strong enough to shake large buildings in the capital.

Experts warn that significant aftershocks and the risk of a larger 'mega-quake' induced by this event remain high.
