NASA unveils Roman space telescope

The observatory is intended to shed light on the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy, which make up the vast majority of the cosmos.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced that the telescope is ready to launch in early September, eight months ahead of its original schedule.

The project is named after NASA's first chief astronomer and represents a major leap in imaging technology.

The telescope will be transported to Florida for its final preparations before heading into space to provide a new 'atlas of the universe.'
