BBC to cut 2,000 jobs

BBC to cut 2,000 jobs

Interim Director-General Rhodri Talfan Davies informed staff of the significant downsizing during an all-staff call on Wednesday.

The corporation cited rising inflation and a widening gap between income and operating costs as the primary drivers for the restructuring.

The move comes just weeks before former Google executive Matt Brittin is set to take over as director-general.

Unions have condemned the 'brutal' cuts, warning that the reduction in personnel will inevitably impact the quality and scope of the BBC's programming.
