Trump Hosts America 250 at Mount Rushmore
Trump claimed that at least 45,000 people attended his Great American State Fair kickoff on Wednesday night.
Democrats largely boycotted the events, which are being funded by a mix of private donations and government spending.
A limited-edition quarter was minted for the occasion, and the president’s motorcade earlier damaged the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Organizers also faced criticism for politicizing what was intended as a national celebration.
