China resumes ties with Taiwan
The Taiwan Work Office under China's Communist Party issued a 10-point package of measures designed to facilitate travel and trade.
This outreach follows a landmark meeting between President Xi Jinping and Taiwan's opposition leader Cheng Li-wun.
While high-level contact with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party remains suspended, Beijing is attempting to establish a separate communication mechanism with the KMT. Critics argue these steps are intended to influence Taiwan's internal politics and bypass the current government's territorial rejection.
