BJP aide killed in Bengal

Chandranath Rath, a close aide to senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, was ambushed and killed by gunmen on motorbikes in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.

The attack occurred just days after the BJP swept the state elections, leading to a surge in post-poll violence that has claimed at least five lives.

The BJP has condemned the killing as a "political assassination" and alleged that the ruling TMC is targeting its workers.

A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the murder as tensions remain high across the state.
