Sonam Wangchuk Forcibly Hospitalised

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly removed from his hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and taken to Safdarjung Hospital after his health deteriorated on the 21st day of his protest over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and student deaths.

Doctors reported that Wangchuk was refusing intravenous fluids and medication, while his wife Gitanjali Angmo demanded no treatment proceed without her consent and sought his immediate discharge.

Opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi condemned the removal as evidence that "violence is a core tenet of the Modi government," while former chief justice K. G. Balakrishnan and activist Anna Hazare appealed for his life to be saved and for the government to engage in dialogue.

Wangchuk's supporters announced a planned march to Parliament would proceed as scheduled, and two people were arrested in Guwahati for painting a mural of the activist on a public wall without a permit.
