Starmer Faces Mandelson Vetting Scandal

The political crisis surrounding Lord Peter Mandelson's appointment has deepened after it emerged that Foreign Office officials overruled a recommendation to deny him security clearance.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed 'fury' over the situation, claiming he was never informed of the vetting failure before handing Mandelson the role.

Opposition leaders, including Kemi Badenoch and Stephen Flynn, have accused Starmer of either lying or gross incompetence and are demanding his immediate resignation.

A retired High Court judge has been commissioned to review the national security vetting system in the wake of the fallout.
