Japan lifts lethal arms export ban

In a historic departure from its decades-old pacifism, Japan has overhauled its defense export rules to bolster its domestic arms industry.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi stated that the move is necessary for national security as the country faces rising regional threats from China and North Korea.

The policy change enables Japan to participate more fully in global defense-industrial projects and arms sales to over a dozen countries.

While the decision has caused unease among some of the public, allies view it as a step toward enhanced regional stability.
