Typhoon Bavi Makes Landfall in China

Typhoon Bavi Makes Landfall in China

China evacuated more than 1.8 million people as Bavi churned toward the major city of Wenzhou after battering Japan’s southern Sakishima islands and brushing past northern Taiwan.

The typhoon brought winds exceeding 150 km/h and torrential rainfall, causing widespread power outages and flooding.

Authorities suspended rail and air services across the region, and schools and businesses were closed.

The storm is expected to track further inland, weakening but still posing a flood risk.
