Starmer rejects US blockade plan

In a significant break from Washington, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has ruled out any UK involvement in the planned blockade of Iranian ports.

While the U.S. prepares to interdict vessels, the UK will continue its existing minesweeping and anti-drone operations in the region to ensure freedom of navigation.

Starmer's decision reflects a broader European skepticism toward the blockade, with France and Spain also expressing concerns about potential escalation.

The Prime Minister warned that the UK would not be "dragged into" a wider war and urged both sides to seek a diplomatic resolution.
