Japan Overhauls Arms Export Rules

The overhaul of defense export guidelines is intended to bolster Japan's domestic arms industry and deepen security cooperation with international partners.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi emphasized that no single country can protect its own security alone in the face of rising regional threats from China and North Korea.

The decision has sparked a warning from Beijing against 'moves towards militarism' and has caused unease among segments of the Japanese public.

Despite the change, the government maintains it will continue to uphold its commitment to global peace and security.
