BBC to cut 2,000 jobs
Interim Director-General Rhodri Talfan Davies informed BBC staff of the massive restructuring plan during a 'savage' all-staff call on Wednesday.
The national broadcaster is struggling with rising inflation and a decline in license fee income, necessitating a 10% reduction in its total annual budget by 2029.
These layoffs represent the largest downsizing of the corporation in more than 15 years and will affect departments across the UK. The announcement comes just weeks before former Google executive Matt Brittin is scheduled to take over as the new permanent Director-General.
