Peru election results delayed

A chaotic election day in Peru has forced authorities to extend voting into Monday following widespread delays in the distribution of electoral materials.

Frustrated voters in the capital, Lima, faced long lines and unopened polling stations, leading to a breakdown in the process for over 60,000 residents.

The race features a record field of 35 candidates, with right-leaning businessman Rafael López Aliaga and Keiko Fujimori currently leading early exit polls.

The extension also applies to Peruvian citizens registered in Orlando and Paterson, New Jersey, where similar logistical issues occurred.
