Thief jailed for £2m Fabergé egg heist

The victim, a whiskey company executive, had left the Givenchy handbag on the floor while greeting a friend in a packed pub.

Conticello was captured on CCTV grabbing the bag and fleeing the scene, later claiming he was looking for 'easy money' to buy drugs.

The emerald-encrusted egg and matching watch set are valued at approximately $3 million, making it one of the most high-value opportunistic thefts in recent London history.

The thief was eventually apprehended in Belfast after a multi-city police investigation.
