Japan Lifts Arms Export Ban

The Japanese cabinet gave final approval on Tuesday to allow the export of warships, tanks, and missiles to defense partners.

This historic shift marks a significant departure from decades of self-imposed restrictions on the international sale of military equipment.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's government argued that the change is necessary to deter regional aggression and strengthen security cooperation.

However, the move has already drawn warnings from Beijing, which accused Tokyo of moving toward militarism.
