Australia and Japan Seal Warship Deal

The strategic partnership between Canberra and Tokyo has reached a new milestone with the signing of contracts for eleven new warships.

The first three frigates will be constructed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan, with the remaining eight to be built in Western Australia.

This massive investment aims to modernize the Australian Navy’s fleet amid growing regional assertiveness from China.

Defense ministers from both nations emphasized that the collaboration strengthens security and technological innovation across the Indo-Pacific.
