Met unit to protect Jewish community

The Metropolitan Police has deployed a massive security operation across London to protect the Jewish community during the Lag BaOmer festival.

Officer numbers have been increased fivefold in neighborhoods like Stamford Hill and Golders Green following a surge in antisemitic hate crimes and recent violent attacks.

This heightened presence aims to deter further violence and provide reassurance to families as they celebrate the religious holiday.

The move comes as political leaders and community organizations warn of a "pandemic" of antisemitism that has reached levels not seen in decades.
