BBC to slash 2,000 jobs
Interim Director-General Rhodri Talfan Davies informed staff on Wednesday that the BBC must eliminate 2,000 roles to achieve £500 million in savings.
The broadcaster cited rising inflation and a challenging media landscape as primary drivers for the drastic restructuring.
These cuts represent roughly ten percent of the BBC's total workforce and follow previous announcements regarding reduced coverage of national events.
The news comes as the organization prepares for a leadership transition with Matt Brittin set to take over as director-general in May.
