Strait of Hormuz Declared Open

The critical maritime chokepoint of the Strait of Hormuz has reportedly reopened to commercial traffic, signaling a potential de-escalation in the nearly two-month-old conflict in the Middle East.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that passage is now permitted under ceasefire conditions, though the U.S. Navy continues to warn of potential mine threats in the area.

Despite the opening, President Trump has maintained a hardline stance, asserting that the American blockade will persist until Tehran agrees to a comprehensive deal, including the surrender of enriched uranium.

Energy experts caution that while oil prices have plummeted, a return to pre-war shipping volumes and price stability may take several months.
