WHO warns of Africa vaccine gap

A new report from the WHO highlights the critical challenges facing vaccination programs across the African continent.

While significant progress has been made in eradicating diseases like polio, the disruption caused by regional conflicts and economic instability has led to a resurgence of preventable illnesses in some areas.

Health officials are urging governments to prioritize the procurement of vaccines for newborns and to address public hesitancy through targeted education campaigns.

The WHO has also cleared the first malaria drug specifically for newborns, providing a new tool in the fight against one of the continent's deadliest diseases.
