UK Refuses to Join Hormuz Blockade

The British government has distanced itself from President Trump’s latest military escalation, stating that UK assets will continue to operate independently in the region.

While the U.S. moves to shutter Iranian ports, the UK will focus on mine-sweeping and anti-drone operations to keep vital shipping lanes open.

Labour MPs have urged Starmer to use this moment to also scrap the controversial Chagos Islands handover, which Trump opposes.

The refusal to participate in the blockade comes as economists warn that rising energy costs will leave the average British household £480 worse off this year.
