Mandelson vetting scandal hits Starmer
Sir Keir Starmer is set to address the House of Commons on Monday to explain how Lord Peter Mandelson was cleared for a senior diplomatic role despite security concerns.
The Foreign Office has been blamed for the oversight, with reports suggesting senior civil servants were aware of the vetting failure weeks before the Prime Minister.
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has launched a blistering attack on Starmer's competence, demanding a full release of all related documents.
The scandal has also led to the sacking of Foreign Office chief Sir Olly Robbins, who is reportedly furious over his treatment.
