Spring floods hit Canada

A combination of rapid snowmelt and heavy rainfall has overwhelmed drainage systems and washed out several key roads.

In western Quebec, the town of Fort-Coulonge has declared a state of emergency, with municipal workers racing to install sandbags and protective barriers.

Northeastern Ontario communities are also facing significant challenges, with much of Minden Hills Township remaining underwater.

Officials warn that while levels may begin to stabilize later this week, the risk to properties remains high and residents should stay alert to emergency notifications.
