Magnitude 5.7 earthquake hits Nevada

The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake hit just before 6:30 p.m. on Monday at a depth of 3.1 miles.

While no major injuries have been reported, local residents in Silver Springs and Carson City experienced structural damage to homes and businesses.

Footage from a local Walmart showed merchandise thrown from shelves and cracked flooring.

The quake is one of the largest recorded in the region in recent years, prompting a series of safety inspections for local infrastructure.
