Strait of Hormuz Reopens

The critical maritime chokepoint of the Strait of Hormuz has reopened to all commercial vessels for the duration of the current Israel-Lebanon truce.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced the move, which has triggered a massive rally in global stock markets and a sharp decline in crude prices.

Despite the opening, President Donald Trump has vowed that the American blockade on Iranian ships and ports will remain in full force until a comprehensive deal is reached.

International shipping giants remain cautious as they seek clarification on safety and the potential presence of sea mines.
