BBC to cut 2,000 jobs
Interim Director General Rhodri Talfan Davies informed staff on Wednesday that the BBC must reduce its workforce by 10 per cent to close a growing gap between costs and income.
The cuts come as the corporation grapples with high inflation and the effects of a frozen license fee, which funds the majority of its operations.
While the broadcaster remains a staple of British life, executives stated that 'looking the other way is not an option' in the face of evolving consumer habits.
The restructuring will impact departments across the UK, marking a pivotal moment for the century-old institution.
