The Ghanaian Football Association says that soccer player Dominic Frimpong was killed after his team's bus was attacked by suspected armed robbers.
The incident occurred Sunday as Frimpong's Berekum Chelsea team returned from a Ghanaian Premier League game against Samartex FC. A club statement said masked men with guns started shooting at the bus, forcing players and staff to flee into nearby bushes.
One player was injured and is receiving medical attention.
The GFA plans to strengthen security measures for clubs traveling for domestic competitions.
