General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and leader of Vietnam since 2024
Tô Lâm is a Vietnamese politician and former police officer who since 2024 has served as the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), the highest-ranked position of the Vietnamese politics, and as the 13th and current president of Vietnam since 2026. He previously served as president from May to October 2024. A veteran of the People's Public Security Forces with over 40 years of service, Lâm rose through the ranks to become Minister of Public Security in 2016, a position he held until his first election to the presidency in 2024.
